Gerard Smit founded Technivorm, the manufacturer of Moccamaster, in 1964 with this philosophy. In 1968, he designed the first Moccamaster. Since then, the beloved coffee maker has been known for brewing the best cup of coffee, its colourful and iconic design and, above all, its high quality.
The secret of the perfect coffee
The copper heating element from Moccamaster is unique and ensures an optimal brewing temperature between 92 and 96 ° C. Why is this temperature optimal? If coffee is brewed too cold, the coffee tastes sour. If the coffee is made too hot, coffee tastes bitter. The brewing temperature of Moccamaster is optimized to prepare a hot cup of coffee that tastes good.
Brewing time also affects the taste of the coffee. This is perfectly arranged with all Moccamasters, so that every cup of coffee has the perfect strength.
In the centre of the Netherlands lies the picturesque town of Amerongen. This is where all Moccamaster machines are made. Interested to see the surroundings of this lovely little town? Watch this video!
Why Moccamaster
Handmade
All Moccamaster coffee machines and grinders have been handmade by Technivorm in the heart of the Netherlands since the beginning in 1964. The materials used in the products are developed with an eye on longevity and safety for people and the environment.
Repairable
All machines are modularly built. This makes a Moccamaster repairable as the parts are replaceable. Loose parts such as lids and jugs are also always available separately.
Temperature
Moccamaster brews coffee with the optimal water temperature between 92 and 96°C. Once brewed, the coffee has a temperature between 80 and 85°C. This way, all the coffee aromas are perfectly balanced.
Iconic design
Moccamaster is known for its iconic, modular design. In addition, Moccamaster has the widest range of colours to suit your style and kitchen.
By the expert
All Moccamaster filter coffee machines and coffee grinders are certified by the renowned coffee organisations ECBC and SCA. In addition, Moccamaster has been awarded by coffee experts as one of the best filter coffee machines for years.
5-year guarantee
As a guarantee of high quality, all Moccamaster domestic machines have a 5-year warranty and are repairable thereafter.
Made by professionals
Technivorm started developing household products on 6 April 1964. Soon after, founder Gerard Clement Smit made a successful move into the coffee world. The Technivorm factory has been in Amerongen - the Netherlands - since the beginning.
Thanks to dedication, product developments and precise technology, Moccamaster is known for serving the best cup of coffee. In addition, they are modularly built which not only ensures that the machines last an extremely long time, but are also repairable.
Reliable choice
All Moccamaster machines are made from materials developed with an eye on longevity and safety for people and the environment. In addition, each Moccamaster is individually tested, assuring the end user of a reliable product. The machine is modularly built, making individual parts easy to replace and repair.
The plastic parts of the machines are all BPA, BPF and Phthalate free, making them safe to use. In addition, a Moccamaster is energy efficient due to the automatic off function on the machines. So a Moccamaster is not only the best choice in terms of coffee taste and design, but also when it comes to quality, longevity and an honest product.
What is the ECBC and the SCA?
The European Coffee Brewing Centre tests all coffee machines for it's machine and coffee quality. Brewing time, temperature and extraction are of great importance here. All Moccamaster devices have been carrying the ECBC quality mark since 1975.
The purpose of the Specialty Coffee Association is to ensure the quality of the global coffee community. Moccamaster coffee machines also bear the SCA quality mark for making good coffee.
The perfect taste
Temperature
Moccamaster brews coffee with the optimum water temperature between 92 and 96°C. Once brewed, the coffee has a temperature between 80 and 85°C. This ensures all coffee aromas are perfectly balanced.
Processing time
A dipping time of 4 to 6 minutes ensures that the full flavour of the coffee is released, without over or under extraction. This allows you to brew the tastiest cup of coffee at any quantity.
Overflow pipe
During the brewing process, the water is pulsed over the coffee. The 9-hole overflow pipe ensures even distribution of the water over the ground coffee. This ensures the perfect extraction.
Filter paper
Choose white filter paper for the best taste of your coffee. White filter paper, unlike brown filter paper, does not leave a paper taste. Want to read more benefits? Check out this blog.
