Think about a nice coffee recipe and one of the first that might come to your mind is an Irish coffee. With a Moccamaster you brew the perfect cup of coffee, so your Irish Whisky will taste even better now!

And for the whisky lovers among us; you'll be pleased to know that every third Saturday of May is World Whisky Day! It is the perfect reason to get started with this recipe and to enjoy your favourite whisky in a delicious and warming drink. So, let’s get your Moccamaster brewing and treat yourself to a delicious Irish Coffee for the weekend.

Here's how to do it:

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup of freshly brewed coffee
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 45 ml Irish whisky
  • Heavy cream, whipped
  • Cinnamon (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Start by brewing a cup of fresh coffee with your Moccamaster. Use your favourite beans, but make sure it's strong and hot.
  2. While the coffee is still hot, add one tablespoon of brown sugar and stir until it's dissolved.
  3. Next, add 45 ml of Irish whisky to the coffee mixture. Stir to combine.
  4. Now it's time to add the whipped cream. You can use store-bought whipped cream or make your own by whipping heavy cream with a whisk or electric mixer until it's light and fluffy.
  5. Carefully spoon the whipped cream onto the top of the coffee mixture. Make sure it floats on top and covers the entire surface.
  6. If desired, sprinkle some cinnamon on top for an extra touch of flavour and aroma.
  7. Finally, grab a spoon and mix the whipped cream into the coffee as you drink it. Enjoy!

Tips:

  • For a richer and creamier Irish coffee, use heavy cream instead of milk in the whipped cream.
  • Make the quality even better with freshly grinded beans from our KM5 Burr Grinder.
  • If you want a sweeter drink, add more brown sugar to the coffee mixture.
  • Experiment with different types of whisky to find your favourite. Irish whisky is traditional, but other types like bourbon or rye can also be used.
  • Serve your Irish coffee in a clear glass mug so you can see the layers of coffee, whiskey, and cream.

Enjoy the weekend with an Irish coffee

Irish coffee is the perfect way to celebrate Whisky Day. It's warm, comforting, and delicious - everything you could want in a whisky cocktail. So, brew up a pot of coffee with your Moccamaster, grab your favourite whiskey, and whip up a batch of Irish coffee to enjoy with friends or on your own. Sláinte!
